How it all began: We decided in late 2006 that we would start trying to have a baby sometime after our trip to Disney World with the whole family that was to take place in February 2007. At the same time, we were also trying to sell our first house. As luck would have it, an engaged couple decided to buy the house. We closed on March 3rd and moved into our rental town home while we looked for our next home. Little did we know at the time, but we were already pregnant while this was happening! Lori was moving heavy boxes and not eating much because she was trying to lose weight so she could be as small as possible whenever the time did come for her to get pregnant. She was also drinking a lot of caffeine because she was so tired (she thought from the move). Well, luckily, all of this did not hurt the baby!
Monday, March 12th: Daryl, with his pregnant woman detecting 6th sense, told Lori that she needed to take a pregnancy test. He had been telling her to do so for the past 3 days, since she was late beginning Friday. She KNEW that she was not pregnant and didn’t want to waste the money on a pregnancy test because she was feeling crampy like she normally does before it is that time, but finally decided to take the test. It almost instantly came back positive! Daryl was the one looking at it. He told Lori it was positive but she didn’t believe him right away. Knowing Daryl, she figured he was joking. We she saw the line for herself, it was awesome. We were so excited!! We took pictures of us holding the test and then we decided to call our friends Tim & Amanda because we just had to tell someone. They are so excited that we are pregnant. Now we will have a little friend for their little boy Davis to play with. Amanda will definitely be Lori’s go to person with questions as she is the most recent friend to have given birth and they can tell each other anything.
Tuesday, March 13th: Lori called her doctor and made our first doctor appointment to learn about the baby. She found out that the due date (tentatively) will be November 19th. This is special because it is also Daryl’s dad Bill’s birthday. Also, at midnight, Lori took another test which confirmed the baby was still on board.
Wednesday, March 14th: Today we went and told Gloria about the baby. We did it by giving her a photo album where the first three pictures are of us with the positive pregnancy test and a note. Of course she didn’t have her glasses on so at first just thought it was pictures of us holding candles. Lori told her to read the note so she went and got her glasses, and started reading at the middle of the note, totally missing the part “We’re having a baby!” But she finally got to that part and was so excited. We all thought it was really neat that the baby’s due date is the same as Bill’s Birthday. She is excited about having another baby in the family.
Thursday, March 15th: Today was the day to tell David, Deeshia, Caleb & Chase. We went over to their house after work under the guise of looking at houses in the area. When we got there, Lori went to talk to Deeshia in the kitchen while Daryl went upstairs to find the guys. When David went to the bathroom, Daryl pulled Caleb & Chase to the side and told them that Lori had their baby cousin in her belly and that we wanted them to announce it. He told them that on the count of three to say “Lori has a baby in her belly!” Then when David came out of the restroom, Daryl told him that Deeshia was calling him to get him downstairs. When they got there, Daryl said “The boys have an announcement to make: one, two, three!” and nothing. Caleb said “Chase isn’t doing it!!!” So Daryl said “come on Chase.” To which he said. “ok, ok, ok….Lori has a snake in her belly.” And from that Deeshia said “Are you pregnant???” Not sure how she figured it out, but she did and was so excited. Caleb is excited to get to hold a baby and play with his new cousin. Chase asked if he could feel and Lori let him, warning him that there really isn’t anything to feel yet but Lori didn’t want to say no and hurt his feelings. He felt her tummy and said “oh, that’s just your pants.” We told him in a few months, he would be able to feel the baby which seemed the satisfy him. Caleb was so sweet because if he was practicing his karate kicks, when Lori would come close by, he would stop and make sure he was safely out of the way as to not hurt the baby. Even when Lori gave him a hug bye he stuck his tush way out to not get too close. Everyone seems to be so happy about the new baby.
Friday, March 16th: Deeshia called Lori today and told her the cutest things that the boys said to her. Chase asked if after the baby was born, if it was going to go home with them. Caleb asked if he would get to go into the hospital room when the baby was born. Deeshia said no and he got mad. She had to explain that kids aren’t allowed in there. He asked her if she would get to go in the room to which she responded yes. He said “That’s not fair!” I hear that he is still complaining about that a few days after the fact. Chase is now asking Nana if she has a baby in her stomach.
Saturday, March 17th: Today we tell Lori’s parents and grandparents about the baby. First we tell her parents. We give them a photo album just like we did for Gloria. We tell them to sit on the couch and open it together, that we just got them a little something for helping us move out of our house. Linda comments on the pretty album then opens it, says “awww” at the picture of Daryl and Lori then reads the part that says “We are having a baby!” She says “NO” slams the book and comes running for Lori crying and squealing and dancing and hugging. And Randy says “What?” She slammed it before he could read, so Lori tells him to read the album. He opens it up, reads it, and starts crying and smiling and heads over to give us a hug. Lori has never seen her parents so excited in her life. It was a great moment. Lori was so excited and nervous that it took about five minutes for her to stop shaking. After that, we went over to the grandparent’s house. Geneva met us outside, and when Lori approached her she said, "Hey Great-Grandmomma.” Geneva stepped back, looked at her and said “What? Are you pregnant?” She was so excited. Then Lori did the same thing to D.L. and got the same reaction. They were pretty much in shock the entire time we were there but once we left, the excitement set in and Geneva called everyone she knew to tell them she was going to be a great-grandmomma.
Monday, March 19th: Today was a nauseous day. Lori thought for sure she was going to toss her cookies but everything stayed down. Daryl got her some saltine crackers and sprite to help her feel better. He also picked her up a little surprise. We are thinking about doing a jungle themed nursery and he bought some little wooden cut outs of jungle animals: a monkey, giraffe, elephant, and lion. We can’t wait until it is time to start decorating for the baby! Daryl also made dinner for Lori tonight. He won’t let her touch raw meat or harsh cleaning solutions. He is the best.
Wednesday, March 28th: Today was our first doctor appointment with Dr. Rob Dyar. He is Deeshia’s friend and doctor and she recommend him to us. It was a great first visit. First they did a pregnancy test and confirmed everything, and then he did the pelvic exam. After we Lori told him that she had a little spotting a few days before she found out she was pregnant, he decided to go ahead and do an ultrasound to make sure the baby was in the uterus, just to be safe. We were able to see the baby!!! We saw little peanut’s heart beat and then we were able to hear it! Lori began to cry and Daryl got teary eyed. It was an incredible experience to get to hear our little baby. We found out that Lori has some bruising on her uterus near the baby, which was caused when it was implanted but everything should be fine. The doctor said the baby is very healthy to be able to hear the heartbeat at 6 week & 6 days. The heart rate was 126 BPM (anything over 100 is good). Carol is predicting a boy.
Thursday, March 29th: Today was the day that we told our work about the baby. Lori told her co-workers first. First she told her boss Kim who was so excited for her. Then she told the president Casey. Casey got teary eyed and made Lori pretend like she was quitting when she told her husband Rob and the VP of Sales, Jack. It was funny. They were both so surprised. Then she went around the office showing off peanut’s picture to tell the rest of the crew. Everyone is so excited and said they would help her around the office since she has to carry heavy stuff and move tables. Daryl told his office too and they are so happy for us. One of the ladies that work with him gave Lori a book to read about pregnancy.
Saturday, March 31st: Today was Deeshia’s cousin Claire’s baby shower. She is due May 18th. At the party, we told Deeshia’s extended family about our little peanut. They are all happy for us and Claire and Lori spent some time talking baby. Deeshia’s friend Callie was able to get Lori some maternity clothes from a friend she had that was just going to throw them away so Lori and Deeshia went through those clothes and Deeshia’s to see if there were any items that Lori could borrow for later on down the road and there were a good many items so that was great!
Here is her face...she is looking to the right and yawning. Coming from the top of the picture down: Forehead, eyes, little nose, yawning mouth, chin, belly.
Here are her long legs.... they were dated as being due 11/12.... the rest of her is 11/17. That's my girl! And check out those feet.... no size 6 there.... I think I'm making her mad...she is kicking me as I type. Ha-ha. Mommy loves your big feet!

We are so happy to be able to start picturing what are baby will look like and be like. We can't WAIT!
