To Everything, Turn, Turn, Turn

Ok, so a few nights ago, Jamie rolled from her tummy to her back. She isn't supposed to be able to do that until she is around 4 months old so we thought it might have been an "accident" on her part. Like..."oops, I rolled over. I didn't mean to do that!" Well, last night, she did it 3 times in a row. She would have done more, but we got the video camera out which of course made her stop in her tracks. So know we have the camera on the ready every tummy time. As soon as she does it again, I'll try to get some video up.

Doctors, Doctors, everywhere

Tis the season to see your doctor! I had my 6 week check up and I'm all good. yay! Today we had Jamie's follow up appointment for her reflux and she is doing great! she weighs 11 lbs and is doing much better since she started the Zantac. I can start feeding her on both sides again because now I'm making what she needs, not too much like before. . Hope you all have a happy New Year!

It sure ain't 2% milk....

So I took Jamie to the doctor on Friday to diagnose if she had Acid Reflux or not. Based on her symptoms, we are pretty sure that is what she has and the doc put her on Zantac. It seems to be helping her feel better. She has been a VERY happy baby all weekend since we started the medicine. To make sure that all of that spitting up wasn't making her lose weight, they weighed her.... um, yea.... she weighed 10 lbs.... she was 8 lb 8 oz just 12 days before. ie, she has gained more than double what they usually see. The doc asked if I ever pumped and I said yes, occasionally. She asked how much and I told her I only got about 2 oz from each side.... Little did I know, Jamie is only supposed to get 2 oz at each feeding!! So we are down to nursing just one side at each feeding and pumping the other because eventually, she will need the full deal.

Silent Night??? Yea right!

Jamie had her first acting debut last night. She was baby Jesus at my mom-in-law's church. We were very impressed with her in that she sat through the first half of the event without crying. There was an orchestra and a choir and she slept right through it. At the end is when she went on and during that part she did great too (there was music playing) as soon as the music stopped and the preacher started talking....WAAAAAAAAAAAA. It was pretty funny. She went into total hysterics then the music started again....ZZZZzzzzzzz. Here we are before she had to go back stage and get her "Jesus Outfit" on... i.e. a white onsie and a cloth diaper (don't worry, there were pampers underneath!) Gloria bought her this outfit for Christmas. I think it is adorable on her. It has a little red beret that goes with it, but it was mega hot in there so we left the hat off.

This too shall pass....

Poor Jamie.... she is our little gas machine. I'm eating bland and we burp her all the time, but her stomach is constantly rumbling. Last night, it was bad in that it wasn't coming out and she had horrible gas cramps. I felt so bad for her. Daryl burped her for about an hour and she finally calmed down enough to go to sleep. She slept from 10:00 - 3:45 when I woke her up to nurse... she did one side and then passed out until 6:40. Then she did the other side. She didn't start feeling better until around 10:00 today. I felt so bad for her. We've tried the Mylicon (sp?) drops, the leg exercises where you pump their legs back and forth, belly massage... nothing seems to help... any advice? . In the mean time, more pictures!

Happy 2 Week Birthday!

Jamie is now 2 weeks old! She lost her cord last night so now she has a perfect little inny belly button. So cute! Here are some more pics of our baby girl.

This was a very sheety morning.... I'm nursing Jamie this morning at 6:00 in our bed since Daryl has already left for work... I start feeling a warmth come over me... I wish I could say it was love... but no, it was pee from a leaky diaper.... so I change my clothes, her clothes and the bed sheets. We resume nursing and I fall asleep... and she eats to much. Next I'm awaken to her spitting up into my silk pjs.... Silk is non-absorbent so As I sit up, milk runs down and all over the bed... I change the sheets again. I go to change her and I take off her diaper to change it, and she proceeds to pee everywhere... I change her changing pad cover and clothes again. So by 7:30, we have gone through 2 sets of sheets, 2 sets of PJs for me and 2 sets of PJs for her (she pees all over the place in between the old and new diaper again at 10:00...but I'm awake then so who cares.... The plus side.... she slept from 9:30 to 2:00!!!! and then from 2:00 to 6:00!!! I got TONS of sleep so it was all good. I was laughing the whole time because it was just plan funny. As I told one of my girlfriends, a day with a poopy diaper is better than any day without one. I love my Jamie!!!! :-)

Today was Jamie's 2 Weeks check up with her doctor. She has GROWN!!! She is now 22 inches long and 8lbs 8 oz! At discharge from the hospital, she was 19 inches long and 7 lb 9 oz. My milk rocks! ha-ha. The doc said everything looks good and she goes back in 1.5 months and get (dun dun dunnnnn) her shots....ewwww.... that will NOT be fun for either of us.

She has her toungue stuck out, just like I did when I was little.... this means we will be paying for a retainer in about 10 years.... just like my parents did.

So I finally woke up...

It has been a WHIRLWIND since bringing Miss Jamie home. Daryl and I are head over heels in love with our little angel. She is everything I dreamed about and about one million things more. We had a wonderful first thanksgiving with Jamie. Here is a picture from her 1st Holiday:

Ok, so back to the birth story....

So I got the epidural and the rest of labor was SOOO much better... and then it was time to push. So I pushed.... and pushed....and 2 and a half hours later, I'm still pushing. Jamie's head won't come out from behind the pubic bone. The doc comes in and says we have 2 options... the vacuum which may work, or a c-section. After a short deliberation, we decide to at least give the vacuum a go. He said I wouldn't need an episiotomy unless the head was too big, that just having the vacuum doesn't mean you'll need one so we figure we would give it a shot...Jamie was doing fine so might as well try to avoid major surgery. So here we go.... we start the Hoover treatment. After much pushing and one episiotomy for her head, and a little bit more for her shoulders, out pops Jamie Marie (did I mention the epidural had worn off at this point so I felt both episiotomies?).... Here is a picture that I.... yes, I said that I took...right when she came out.

I yelled for the camera because I wanted to get a picture of Daryl cutting the cord and my mom brought me the camera and I got this shot and then they were behind my leg for the cord cutting so I didn't get it. Daryl went over and watched Jamie get all cleaned up while I got put back together. Here are some pics from that...her...not me!

It was SOOOO great getting her into this world! So now Jamie shares the same birthday as her granddad Partin! We were all hoping that she would be born on the 19th...and she just did make it, coming in at 1:18 AM. It is funny, because if you calculate based on ovulation, her due date was Nov. 19th... measurements and stuff moved her forward some. I'm glad she shares Bill's Birthday. Bill's middle name is James, so it is even cooler that they share the same birthday since we named her after him.

Birth Story

Hey everyone! Well I did it, I had me a baby! Daryl was a nervous wreck, so his posts were obviously brief and to the point, but I am so glad he was able to post for me. So I figured now would be a great time to write the birth story while it is still fresh in my memory and Jamie is soundly asleep cuddled up under my arm (I'm loving this!) November 18th, 2007: 1:00 PM. We FINALLY get the call from the hospital that our number has been called for induction and to come on in. We get to the hospital and checked in by 2:00. At 2:00, I am 2 cm... for sake of length - by 10:00 PM I'm 10 cm. How did I get to 10 cm? Well, at about 3:00, the Doc breaks my water and they check me at 4:00 and I've made no progress so they start me on the Pitocin... OH.....MY.....GOSH.... that stuff hurt SO BAD but I went up to 4 cm by 5:00. The contractions were very intense and were about 1-2 minutes apart... I felt ZERO relief in between contractions so I decided to have a narcotic to take the edge off...I instantly felt loopy and thought "heck yeah! This stuff is great! let's roll!" Then the next contraction comes... AHHHHHHH!!!! It was JUST as bad as before! The only thing it was taking the edge off was is that now I had relief between m contractions, but they were still killing me. I gave myself 30 minutes before I decided to get an epidural... 30 minutes later, I was ordering the epidural. . Epidurals are a gift from God. I still felt pain, but it was much more manageable. It was tough getting the epidural because I had the narcotic making me feel loopy in the head, and then I had these over the top contractions because of the pitocin. It was very hard to stay still, but I did because I moved slightly during one contraction and that was not comfortable a ALL. . ok, so fell asleep writing this so I'm going to nap for a little...brb

She has arrived

After a long night, Jamie Marie Partin is here! Lori ended up pushing for about 3 hours. After 2.5 hours it was determined that Lori was not going to be able to push her out on her own and a c-section was discussed. The doctor decided to give the vacuum assist a shot and after about 30 minutes of Lori pushing and the doctor pulling Jamie crowned. Jamie was born at about 1:30 AM. She was 8 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 inches long. I will add pictures soon. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers during our exciting time.

Getting closer!

Lori is currently 8cm. The epidural is a amazing! It turned her from angry girl to sleepy girl. The nurse is going to check her again at 10 PM. We are thinking she should start pushing shortly thereafter. Jamie is low in the birth tunnel, so Lori may not have to push for to long.

A good try

After 4 hours of intense contractions, we finally decided the there was no reason to keep suffering with the pain and decided to get the epidural. To our surprise, the nurse decided to do a cervical check and Lori is at 6 cm and 90% effaced. Looks like Jamie may be here before midnight.

Let the good times roll

They started the Pitocin about 15 minutes ago and already the contractions are getting a little stronger. We do not have any other news to report right now.

D-Day is finally here!

Lori was admitted to the hospital about 2:00 PM after receiving the phone call at 1:00 PM. Lori is currently resting comfortably after the doctor broke her water. Boy what an experience it has been since! I did not know that a women could lose 4 lbs. in 5 minutes. We are going to wait about an hour to see if breaking the water jumpstarts anything. If not, we will probably start the Pitocin in about an hour. I am going to try and do a hourly update, so check back.

Doc Appointment Update!

Math question: 148/62 + 40.1 = ? . what does that equal? It equals an INDUCTION! . My blood pressure was elevated and my due date has come so they have reserved a space for me Sunday to be induced. The hospital will call us Sunday morning and tell us when to come in. As the doc explained it, we pretty much just have a space holder, not necessarily a time...almost like call ahead seating at Longhorns... I know we have a seat for sometime Sunday, it just depends if someone hungry than me shows up first (ie, crowning baby). He said she could still come on her own, but it is good to have a space reserved just in case. I'm a good 2 cm now...before it was 1 - 2...and I went from 60% to 80% effaced. . Doc said they will break my water and start me on pitocin at the same time and then Jamie should be here a "few" hours later. . Daryl will keep you posted on Sunday as things progress. I'll try to get one blog in once they call and tell us when to head in so you will all know!

Belly Evolution: 40 Weeks

Well, here we are at 40 weeks.... we thought for SURE she would be here on the 13th. Daryl had a feeling. That feeling was wrong. He will not be purchasing any lottery tickets this week. Hopefully this will be our last Thursday of belly shots. As such, to commemorate the day... for one time and ONE TIME ONLY.... my actual belly: Before and After.

It is amazing what 30 weeks and 33 lbs can do to a body!!! As you can see, pregnancy had zero effect on my tush...still don't have one. sigh.

Well boys and girls, We have a doc appt tomorrow. I'm going to beg for an induction since I really don't want this to drag through Thanksgiving. I mean, HELLO!!! I have a cute Thanksgiving outfit for her!!! My Birthday is next Wednesday... maybe she is waiting for then? It wouldn't be odd as we have 10 immediate family members that share 5 birthdays...of course there are 3 sets of twins, but still... that is pretty impressive. The 19th is Daryl's Dad's birthday and the 21st is mine, so maybe she just wants to add to the fun.

Whoever said babies slow down a few weeks before they are born never carried Jamie Marie Partin. This child has yet to slow down. She kicks ALL the time. She didn't kick for about 45 minutes one day and I got worried.... 45 minutes people.... THAT is how active she is. I think she is going to be long and skinny for her to still have that much room to move, but for the movements to be so MASSIVE... I mean huge lumps just going across the belly. Long legged lady.... that's my Jamie!

Baby Watch - Day 279

Well, we have been waiting for a Jamie sighting for 279 days now... I'm not sure if she is going to appear. We have seen Big Foot and the Lochness Monster... twice for Big Foot. I'm starting to get tired of sitting in this tree stand. There have been reports that she could be spotted this week, but what do "the professionals" know. The Fall is supposed to be the opportune time to spot wild Jamie, but with the drought this season, and the summer being uncharacteristically warm, we could have a delay in the Jamie migration. At least we know that she will fly south for the Winter, so we know which direction she will be coming. . I or Daryl one will keep you posted should we spot a Jamie, or at least hear she is coming... if you put your ear to the ground, supposedly you can hear the stampede... or is that just me having a contraction? Who knows....

So the contractions stayed at 15 minutes apart until I went to bed, then they woke me up at 12:40, 2:40, 3:40 & 4:40. When I woke up officially at 6:23... NONE.... I had a few MILD BH's and then I had 2 random good ones after lunch and that has been it.... I am SOOOO bummed. . I've decided she is hard headed like her daddy and likes messing with me... like her daddy... so NO more updates on contractions UNTIL they are FIVE MINUTES APART!!!! I'll show her!

Just letting you know....

Contractions have been 15(ish) minutes apart since 2:00 PM today (it is 8:37 PM when I'm writing this). Hopefully Jamie is just around the corner!!!! . Tried testing them with a hot bath and I had 3 while I was in!!! :-) Come on Jamie!!!!

Belly Evolution: 39 Weeks & A Doctor Update!

Today we hit 39 weeks. It is GO TIME!!! As you know, my last doc appt was very disappointing... Zeros across the board. This visit was MUCH better... I am at 1 - 2 cm dilated, 60% effaced and she is at about -4 in the pelvis... so she has dropped some. The doc told me to go ahead and make an appointment for next week, but he doesn't think I'll need it. I've had a lot of BHs and now I'm getting a few "real" contractions thrown in the mix occasionally, so that's good.

I will keep you all posted as things progress. Daryl SWEARS she will be here on the 13th. We shall see!

Belly Evolution: Week 38 & 2 Days

My apologies! That was wrong of me to post about crazy contractions and then not post on time Thursday! No baby to report yet.... the contractions have DRASTICALLY decreased MUCH to my disappointment. I had a Doc appt on Thursday and she said ZERO dilation, ZERO effacement and ZERO engagement (i.e. she has yet to drop) I was SOOOO bummed. I am ready for Jamie to be here! I've also been sick this week. I'm pretty sure I have a sinus infection and I have the pleasure of having my first fever blister ever. Note to others, do NOT research a new condition on-line... It said I would have to have a c-section because I could potentially give her a cold sore which could be fatal to newborns. Sheesh! My doc was like "no, you just have a cold sore... take abreva." I'm not too proud to say that I photo shopped it out of these pictures.... the massive belly is enough, I don't need a giant sore on the center of my top lip too!!! Now I kind of want her to wait about coming until it heals because I will worry about giving her a cold sore, so I won't be able to kiss on her and I will constantly worry about touching her after accidentally touching my mouth. I DON'T NEED THAT STRESS!!!!

Whew...moving on... I have NO CLUE why my belly is pointing in that direction in the head on picture... She was kicking and moving during the picture and sitting on my hip in a very uncomfortable way, so I guess that did it. Also, my belly button has officially emerged from the T-shirt.

My hips have been feeling like they are about to go out from under me, so hopefully she is starting to drop. My belly is starting to stick straight out, so maybe that is a sign too. Like only have 13 more days left isn't clue enough that she is coming!!! Worse case scenario - 27 more days.... that would be 42 weeks. I can wait.... RIGHT!?!?! Guess I don't have much of a choice. We've tried to walk every night, save for the nights when I was at my most sick. When I start organizing my lipsticks by color and refolding all of my wash clothes, I will guess the end is in sight because my nesting hasn't really kicked in above and beyond my usual OCDC.

My next Doc appt is Thursday and hopefully I will have something interesting to report at that time! She is still moving like crazy and just having a good ole time in there, so I can't complain about that. At least I know she is happy! :-)

Update

So I've been having some MAJOR Braxton Hicks contractions... or at least that's what I'm figuring they are because they don't hurt, they are just uncomfortable. I'm asking all of my experienced mamas out there to let me know what they think about what I'm having and if it means Jamie might be on her way. . Last night, around 9:30, I started having contractions pretty regularly. They don't hurt, they are just uncomfortable. Some of them, I have to breathe through because they just are so tight! They kept getting more and more frequent until they were lasting for one minute and were one minute apart. We went for a walk, drank a big glass of water and laid down on my side, and that didn't stop them. They kept going through the night, but slowed down drastically to about one an hour. Then after I woke up this morning, they started speeding up again to where they were about 10 minutes apart by lunch time. Then after I ate, they slowed back down to a few an hour. . So ladies... is this the MO of Braxton Hicks or early labor??? Daryl and I should have paid better attention in Lamaze and not goofed off!!!!!

Belly Evolution: 37 Weeks & 3 Days

This week FLEW by! Sorry for the delay in posting. We have been getting all of Jamie's last minute things together. As we get closer, we open more of her gifts and wash more of her things. It was a major reality check that Jamie could be here at any moment when Amanda told me that she had Davis at 37 weeks and 1 day... that would have been last Friday!!!! . I think we still have a few more weeks though because she hasn't dropped an inch. I am starting to have more consistent Braxton Hicks contractions. They started yesterday. I've only had a few this morning, so they could stop. . We had a good doc appt Thursday. She is still head down, good heart beat. My BP was 116/68 so still nice and calm. I'm starting to swell some now, but that is to be expected. I've gained 30 lbs compared to what I weighed before I got pregnant, so I can't complain about that. (I'm not counting the 7 lbs I lost when I got pregnant. ha-ha) But everyone tells me that when I start feeding her, the lbs will drop pretty fast. . She is still kicking a lot. She is getting stronger, that's for sure. It actually kind of hurts when she kicks my ribs just right or punches my bladder. But hey, as long as she is strong and healthy, I can take it. Besides, I can get my revenge when she does something bad when she turns two and I give her a spanking bwahahaha. :-) If she takes after me, she will do no wrong... if she takes after her dad, I'm buying a cage and a shock collar. hee hee. Case in point: Here is Daryl and Nana going down a slide at our nephew's Birthday party. Obviously, it is genetic. :-) I want to be able to go down slides when I'm 70!!! .
