Standing Continues

I finally broke and just decided to film her standing with my little camera. Disregard my hot outfit. :-) And I promise I'm not holding her arms as tight as it looks in the video. I was barely holding on and was surprised at how tight it looks in the video. She really doesn't need that much help. It's amazing! She pushes up from a sitting position to standing, we are just there to keep her from falling over. She stands and sits like she's had one to many because she just smiles and sways. ha-ha. Here she is after the video, all proud of herself (and her hands aren't really that big, she just had them towards the camera so they look huge compared to her head) :-)

Her latest passion is her index finger. She decided to give up on ever being able to suck her thumb and moved on to the next finger, so now she sucks on her index finger. It's quite cute. I'll try to get a picture of her doing it soon... we have been helping my parents move into their new house, so I haven't taken any pictures of Jamie lately. I have to catch up!

My friend Erin has started her own blog - The Harrison Family on my list. . We meet through work. She hired me to replace her so she could move up. She left almost 2 years ago to raise her handsome little boy Wesley and is currently cooking baby #2! She is good friends with the Gordons (Erin, Jeff & I all worked together) . Standing by

So we discovered Jamie's latest trick on accident. She was straddling Daryl's leg while he was sitting on the couch at my parent's house when Jamie starting pushing up with her legs. My dad saw her and said "Is she standing?" Daryl looked at her and sure enough, she was lifting herself up. Over the next week, we have SLOWLY been seeing whether or not she can really "stand". After researching and making sure it was okay for her to put weight on her legs, we finally came to this picture last night:

She will put all of her wieght on her legs, we just have to keep her balanced. She LOVES standing! She just smiles and giggles the whole time and will start crying when we try to sit her back down, but will go right back to laughing when we let her stand again. .

Today, while she was sitting in my lap, I asked her if she wanted to "sit up" which I always do and I know she understands me because when I say that, she will lock her arms into her sides and lift up her legs so she can pull up to a sitting position. Well today, when I starting lifting her towards me, she pushed off of my stomach with her legs to a standing position and just laughed and laughed. I was shocked! She did it 5 more times so I called to Daryl and he video taped it for me. When we get some more video on the tape (he just downloaded the last full tape today) I will get him to download it for me and I'll post it.

. They grow up so fast!

So I probably should have been working on this sooner, and this probably isn't a big deal to better moms than I, but Jamie FINALLY fell asleep on her own in her crib yesterday and she did it again today! I didn't want to post it yesterday for fear that it was a fluke... but since she is up there sleeping away again, I figure I can rejoice. I laid her down yesterday so I could do a quick chore, and when I went to get her, she looked happy so I let her lay there so I could call Amanda and check on Marleigh and as I was on the phone, girlfriend fell asleep! BIG day for mommy... big day. Today, she needed a little assistance doozing off (ie, mommy holding the paci in for her since she spits it out). But so far, she has been out for 20 minutes so I'm happy.

This is when she found out Marleigh beat her in size by 1lb 10 oz and 3 inches. Jamie HATES being outdone! (she is SUCH an only child). :-)

And she is finally coming to terms that she DOES have to bathe occacionally... but she is plotting ways to get out of it.

Aunt Deeshia bought Jamie this cute little headband that we just HAD to show off. Thanks Aunt Deeshia!!!

Also, Amanda just had Marleigh! I won't spoil any of the details but I wanted you all to know that Mom and Baby are doing great! Her hubby Tim has his laptop, so they should update the blog with pics tonight if Marleigh lets them! haha. Congrats Amanda, Tim & Davis on the newest member of the family!!!

Nana & Grandmomma

Jamie and the women who spoil her... :-)

Last night, Gloria (mom-in-law/Nana) spent the night with us and this morning, my parents came by to drop off boxes of my old toys for me to go through - so Jamie had a triple dose of loving from Nana, Grandmomma & Paw Paw. She was all smiles!

It was crazy going through my old toys... 1) I discovered how maticulous I was as a child because most toys were in prestine condition save for the wear and tear that attic life warrants. 2) A lot has changed in toys over the last 20 years.

.

I found some things that Jamie will be able to play with when she is older. And the fact that Barbie Mecca is in my basement will one day be a blessing, because one day, I'll hear this:

"I WANT A NEW TOY!!"

"Oh really, well looky here, a brand new (to you) toy! enjoy."

I still have 8 more boxes at my parents house to go through... I had a ton of toys. sheesh! Can you tell I was an only child? It was fun going down memory lane today. Hopefully I'll find even more things for Miss J.

The reason my parents brought all those toys now??? They are moving about 20 minutes away from us!!! They were an hour and a half so it will be so nice for them to be closer. I enjoyed having my grandmomma & grandad close to me and Jamie will get the same blessing!

Play Play Play

Jamie and I had a fun day of playing today. She has learned how to hold onto small toys and stick them in her mouth! She still loves playing on her Rainforest Mat. She has her schedule... she likes to play on it in the morning, after her afternoon nap, and at night.

After such a fun day, here Jamie is relaxing. She refuses to have her arms covered up. I tuck her in and OUT the arms come.

2 month checkup & shots

Jamie did great today with her shots. She didn't like them, but she has been good the rest of the afternoon. She has been sleeping mostly since she got the 3 shots. I felt so bad for her!!! She is 12lb 10oz (90th percentile) and 22 1/4 inches long (50th percentile) She is my little teapot and I love her for it! :-)

Fun with mom

Jamie and I had some fun during play time and I decided to take a few pictures of us having a good ole' time. She makes my heart melt when she starts smiling. She has SUCH a big smile and the best laugh. she is such a doll... even if she is mine! :-)

2 months and growing!

Jamie is smiling all of the time now, she has figured out how to put her hand in her mouth, she reaches for toys, she holds her head up so well, and she has different cries now.

The best part of waking up...

Jamie is the HAPPIEST morning person I have ever meet!

All she does is smile and laugh in the morning. It is the cutest thing. I think she is happy because she discovered her own feet last night. During her 1:45 AM diaper change she grabbed her foot! She is really starting to use her hands more.

7 weeks old

Today Jamie is 7 weeks old and she has picked up a new trick! Tonight, she started grabbing for the toys on her play mat. She has pretty much ignored them up until this point, so that was cool to see her swat at them. She is also smiling more. I'm starting to think they are social smiles because they happen so often, but then again, she is always gas-y... so the jury is still out on the "social smile". . She is holding her head up like a champ... and despite how she looks in this picture, she really does like her Bumbo seat!!! She is still a little bobble headed every now and then, so we don't really sit her in it yet, Daryl gave it a shot (with his hand close by...I cut it out of this picture and then hit save instead of save as... doh!!!) and she liked it... I ran and got my camera after he took her out, we put her back in, and this was the face I got. Go figure.

She was having play time with her Paw Paw when he and Grandmomma came to visit last week and I was able to get this cute profile shot... she looks so small compared to my dad's hand!!!
